Walter Price (b. 1989, Macon, Georgia) lives and works in New York. His paintings are a mix of intimate recollections, cultural symbols, identity, and social questions. Summoning past experiences, such as growing up in the South or fighting fires while enlisted in the Navy, Price creates illustrative multi-dimensional vignettes, free from time and the laws of gravity, amalgamating into single scenes, often with contradictory perspectives and narratives. Recent solo exhibitions include MoMA PS1, New York (2018); Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne, Germany (2018); LUMA Foundation, Zurich (2017); Karma, New York (forthcoming 2019, 2016); The Modern Institute, Glasgow (2018, 2016).
