Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the country. Cleveland Clinic’s Arts & Medicine Institute was created for the purpose of integrating the visual arts, music, performing arts and research to promote healing and to enhance the lives of our patients, families, visitors and employees.
The mission of the Cleveland Clinic Art Program is to enrich, inspire and enliven our patients, visitors, employees and community and to embody the core values of the institution: collaboration, quality, integrity, compassion, and commitment. The collection evidences a commitment to supporting the national and local arts communities. An emphasis on contemporary art fosters an environment of creative excellence, encourages dialogue and challenges viewers to experience diverse points of view. The art reflects an interest in underlying concepts such as innovation, teamwork and service which are fundamental cornerstones of Cleveland Clinic.
For FRONT, within the Julia and Larry Pollock Gallery, conceptual artist Sharon Lockhart will present an installation which includes a series of large format photographs of Polish young girls. Lockhart’s film Rudzienko, produced concurrently, will be screened throughout FRONT. Additionally, a dynamic abstract wall painting by Jan van der Ploeg will occupy a central corridor of the Miller Pavilion, a crossroads for hospital visitors and patients.
