This summer FRONT International will enter the art world as the first and newest large-scale, contemporary art Triennial in North America. Michelle Grabner and Ingrid Schaffner will talk about their mutual approaches to the “International”, in consideration of annuals, biennials and triennials around the globe, from North America’s oldest Carnegie International to the newest. The conversation between the two artistic directors of major exhibitions taking place in the United States in 2018, will consider the broad differences between organizing a biennial show with a long illustrious past, and a triennial that functions as a collaboration between major arts institutions throughout a greater region.
