FRONT International presents The Glenville Exchanges: Dialogs between FRONT visiting artists and Cleveland based artists

Artists Juan Araujo and Indrė Šerpytytė join us for a conversation at the FRONT Porch. Both Juan Araujo and Indrė Šerpytytė are part of FRONT’s Madison Residency program and will be in Cleveland to work and conduct research for FRONT.

Bios:

Juan Araujo, (Venezuela, lives/works in Lisbon) focuses his paintings and installations on architectural appropriations. For FRONT, Juan will create a site-specific installation inside the Weltzheimer/Johnson Usonian house designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, owned and maintained by Oberlin College.

Araujo has exhibited widely throughout South America and internationally including solo presentations at Inhotim Center for Contemporary Art, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2013) and Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporánea, Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2008). His work is found in public collections including the Tate, London, UK; MoMA, New York, USA; Jumex Collection, Mexico City, Mexico; Inhotim Center for Contemporary Art, Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Galería de Arte Nacional, Caracas, Venezuela; Museu de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas, Caracas, Venezuela among others.

Indrė Šerpytytė, (Lithuania, lives/works in London) is a photographer whose installations revolve around themes of political repression and memory.

Recent solo exhibitions include Absence of Experience, Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius, Lithuania (2017) and Pedestal, Parafin Gallery, London (2016). Recent group exhibitions include Invisible Cities, Wallach Art Gallery, New York (2017), Still House Group, New York (2016), Ocean of Images: New Photography 2015 at MoMA, New York (2015) and Conflict, Time, Photography at Tate Modern (2015).
