FRONT International presents The Glenville Exchanges: Dialogs between FRONT visiting artists and Cleveland based artists

Los Angeles based artist, experimental filmmaker, and writer William E. Jones will join us for a screening of two of his more recent works, Midcentury and Discrepancy. Artist dialog and Q&A to follow.

About the Artist

William E. Jones (b. 1962, Canton, OH) is a Los Angeles based artist, filmmaker, and writer. His work includes the experimental films Massillon (1991) and Finished (1997), several short videos, including The Fall of Communism as Seen in Gay Pornography (1998), and documentary Is It Really So Strange? (2004), and the essay film, Fall into Ruin (2017), about the Greek art dealer Alexander Iolas (1907-1987) and his abandoned house in Athens. His films and videos were the subjects of retrospectives at Tate Modern, London, in 2005, and at Anthology Film Archives, New York, in 2010. Published books include Between Artists: Thom Andersen and William E. Jones (2013), Imitation of Christ (2013), Flesh and the Cosmos (2014), and True Homosexual Experiences: Boyd McDonald and Straight to Hell (2016).

Jones has received a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, a Foundation for Contemporary Art Grant, a City of Los Angeles (COLA) Grant, two California Community Foundation Fellowships, and a Creative Capital / Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. Jones teaches film history at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
